 Transferable Skills

Writing: Writing is one of my greatest strengths.  It is something I have enjoyed since I was first a student in grade school.    When I was a 5th grader, I wrote a review on a book called Under The Blood Red Sun that was printed in the local newspaper.   Since that time I have entered and won several writing competitions and awards for essays.  I understand the importance of communication and the requirements to express ideas through writing.

Organizing: I have used specific planning tools and techniques to stay organized throughout my life.  I often use a daily planner to organize my schedule.  This allows me to plan projects more thoroughly and see potential problems and challenges before they happen.  I’ve seen both good and bad examples of organizers.  I feel like it is essential in making a business professional.  I know that organized thoughts and an organized workspace increase performance and build confidence in my ability to work.

Reliable:  I am reliable in that I don’t need close supervision.  I can be a productive worker while working alone or with others.  I feel responsible for task assigned to me and feel an obligation to complete work on time.  I am self motivated and have been responsible for making my own work schedules for my employers.

Achieving:  As long as the objective is clearly defined, I believe I can meet the requirements on most projects.  I have a great amount of confidence in learning how to do new tasks and always set goals and a time schedules to improve performance.  My greatest achievements are broken down into several smaller goals completed over a extended period of time.

Experienced:   I have experience in the mortgage loan business; in particular real estate appraisal.  I worked for a company here in Pocatello for four years.  I worked for the summer for Appraisal 2000 in Las Vegas where I gained a greater understanding of the current loan crisis.  I also am well experienced with computers.

Calm:  I have the ability to stay calm during a crisis.  I rarely if ever get agitated to the point of confrontation and would rather work out a disagreement through discussion then through aggression.  I have a lot of experience in helping others work out their differences through designated programs in school.  I've attended some counseling training seminars and enjoy helping people resolve problems.

Creative:  Some of the most rewarding, enjoyable work I’ve done has been so because I was given the chance to be creative.  I know I excel in projects that require creativity more so than in tasks that require strict adherence to specific directions.  My love of music, painting, drawing, and other hobbies have developed into useful skills in designing and implementing themes.

Public Speaking:  I feel comfortable when assigned to give a public speech.   I have had a lot of experience speaking to large groups of people.  It is another skill that I enjoy doing.  I have a great ability to adapt to my audience and change things to cater to their needs.  Many of speeches I have given are instruction based, and involve teaching others about topics I feel are important.

Self Confidence:  I think many people mistake confidence with arrogance.  Confidence builds certainty with oneself and security with others.  It increases the rate of growth, learning, and adaptation.  It enhances skills and abilities and improves individual performance.

Perseverance:  Life often requires that a person perform in any circumstance.  When faced with trials, or monotony, or uncertainty, I have the ability to endure and stay focused.  I know that with hard work may come a great deal of discomfort or inconvenience and is something I am able to cope with and handle for extended periods of time.
